The Team SCV Code of Conduct

Team SCV members are expected to honor the Code of Conduct at all times.
It is the foundation for our team's purpose and how we support our goals.

Click a section to view it:
Section 1: Team Integrity Code

- Cheating, stealing or dishonesty is not tolerated. We can't maintain our integrity as a team in the face of an individuals dishonor.

- Go out of your way to help others when you can.

- Share your table space, lights or shade with others when needed.

- If you borrow a part from someone to fix your broken car, get a new part to return to the member as soon as possible.

- If you drive or use someone's vehicle or equipment, be responsible for its good care. If you break or damage someone's stuff, fix or replace it asap.

- Keep your conversations clean. Be mindful of children in the area. Refrain from profanities or dirty jokes in general and especially within earshot of those under 18 years old.

- Be dependable and on time. If you say your will be somewhere at a certain time, then uphold your integrity and do as you say.

- Always hold your tongue and forgive those who have wronged you. Anyone can forgive a friend, however it is far more amiable to forgive an annoying competitor. This leaves you blameless and them looking foolish.

Section 2: Team Driving Code

- Yelling at the turn marshals is not allowed. We all make mistakes and yelling at them for it takes away the fun for everyone.

- Don't stop your car on the main straightaway at any time unless the announcer has closed the straightaway to line up cars. It is very frustrating when you or someone else breaks their car crashing into you because you were foolish and decided to park on the fastest part of the track.

- Don't cut the track! If you loose control and end up cutting the track accidentally, pause your vehicle until the car that was behind you catches up and drives past you. Anything else is cheating.

- Be courteous to your race leaders on the track. Let the leaders pass you if you are being lapped. Listen to the announcer, they will usually tell you when they are coming up on you. This doesn't mean you have to stop or slow way down. Watch their line as they approach then steer a little to the outside and let them pass.

- Be courteous to the other drivers on the stand when racing. Some racers work hard to focus when driving. Your jabber or annoying noises are a distraction that can take away from the fun of it all.

Section 3: Team Marshaling Code

- When you race, you shall turn marshal the next race after yours or get a substitute to turn marshal it in your place.

- No answering cell phones, spacing out, gabbing, goofing off or being lazy while you turn marshal. Pay attention to your section of the track. Turn unto others as you would want them to turn unto you.

- Don't rush your turns! Get there fast, however take an extra second to pick up the car properly and get the car back on its wheels going in the right direction. (See the Turn Marshalling Guide.)

- Put the car back on the track in the general area where it left. Don't cut the track or cheat for the driver.

- Do not attempt to fix a racer's car while you are turn marshaling. If a car is broken, pull it off the track and set it to the side in a safe area. Popping a ball cup back on during a qualifying heat is acceptable if you can do it fast without neglecting your marshalling duties, however never during an A Main race.

- If you get hit by a car, don't allow yourself to get angry or start yelling at drivers, just suck it up. They are focused on driving their line and just didn't see you. Remember, when your moving across the track, it can be hard for a driver looking from the stand to anticipate how to go around you.
